Rwanda and Chad Sign Agreement Establishing Joint Cooperation Commission
Rwanda and Chad have signed a bilateral agreement establishing a Joint Cooperation Commission, marking an important milestone in the continued strengthening of diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, in N’Djamena by Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olivier Nduhungirehe, and his Chadian counterpart, Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul.

The newly established Commission will serve as a structured framework to enhance collaboration across key sectors of mutual interest, with a particular focus on advancing shared development priorities and promoting sustainable growth.
Officials from both sides welcomed the agreement as a significant step forward in consolidating longstanding bilateral relations. It reflects renewed momentum and a shared commitment to deepening cooperation and fostering closer engagement for the mutual benefit of the peoples of Rwanda and Chad.
During the visit, Minister Nduhungirehe also held a courtesy meeting with the President of the Republic of Chad, Mahamat Idriss Déby and conveyed a letter from President Kagame requesting Chad’s support for the candidacy of Louise Mushikiwabo for a third term as Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF).
